CARL BLAND

Carl trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama and The Chelsea School of Art, both in London. He and partner, Peta Rutter, work as Nightsong Productions. Their shows include: The Bed Show, The House of Doors and Camels, Sofa Stories and most recently, Head, which won the Chapman Tripp for most original Production and was also included in AK07. He also featured as Stuart Rush in the recent TV1 Drama, Rude Awakenings and as Peter Wyeth in Series 1, 2 and 3 of Street Legal. He was nominated for Best Actor in the 1999 Nokia NZ Film Awards for playing Lester in I'll make you Happy. He also works as a painter and his illustrations for The Night Kite was a Finalist in the NZ Post Children's Book Awards and won the Spectrum Best Illustrated Book Award in 2005.
